For his performance in the Chito Rono drama “Signal Rock,” Christian Bables was heralded best actor at the closing ceremony of the recently concluded 5th Hanoi International Film Festival.
Actress Angeli Bayani accepted the award given to Bables during the show held at the Cultural Friendship Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam on Oct. 31.
In the acceptance speech that he posted on Facebook, Bables said being part of “Signal Rock” was “a life-changing opportunity and experience.” He then thanked CSRfilm.ph, the movie’s producer, for “placing you bet on a nameless actor like me. Your love, trust and confidence made me believe that I could. Thank you for making ‘Signal Rock’ happen.”
Among others, he thanked director Rono “for your love and, most of all, for your trust… I will forever cherish this.”
Meanwhile, this year’s best actress winner is Dao Phuong Anh, who is lead of the Vietnamese film “Summer In Closed Eyes.”
“The Dark Room” by Iranian director Rouhollah Hejazi, was named best feature film, while Polish national Piotr Domalewski copped the best feature film director award for “Silent Night.”
Korea’s “Student A” was given the Network for Promotion and Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award.
The 5th HANIFF ran from Oct. 27 to 31.
