“It’s in all shades of blue. Its skirt falls to the floor like clouds,” was how award-winning teen actress Therese Malvar described the gown she wore on the debut that GMA Artist Center organized for her at the Seqouia Hotel on Nov. 3.
The tube dress was designed by Elize Padilla and was “inspired by the stars and the sky. It has embroidered stars as embellishments.”
Her birthday cake, created by Cake Shop, is hand painted, and has three layers, six inches tall each.
Her guests were told to “show up in your best self” at the party that she described as “celestial-themed.” She explained: “This is to inspire those who will attend to just keep on dreaming.”
Part of the traditional 18 roses were actors Rodjun Cruz, Kelvin Miranda, Ricky Davao, and filmmakers Dan Villegas, Joey Reyes and Perci Intalan. She also mentioned Janine Gutierrez and Lauren Young as part of her “18 stars.”
Her escort, whom she described as her “happy crush,” was fellow GMA 7 contract artist David Licauco.
Therese’s actual birthday was on Sept. 16. Her celebration got pushed back to this month because she had prior commitments.
“It was Artist Center that sponsored it. I didn’t really want a debut. ‘Di ako ganon na tao. Pagkain lang ok na sa akin,” she said. “Sabi nila, ‘gawa tayo for you.’ Finally, it happened last Saturday.”
