“I encourage you to support your art. Just go for it!”
This was according to seasoned actor Joel Torre, when asked to give an advice to younger celebrities in terms of longevity in show business.
Joel’s retaurant, JT’s Manukan Grille, recently celebrated its 16th anniversary with a well-attended street party in Makati City.
At the anniversary celebration, Joel told Ripples Daily that the goal of JT’s Manukan Grille, which now has 23 branches all over the country, is to “make known the Ilonggo taste” by introducing the Ilonggo comfort food to people.
What started out as a simple takeout counter in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, established in May 2003, is now a full-service restaurant. It has turned 16 last May 4.
Joel is an actor and producer who is best known for his films such as the biopic “José Rizal,” the crime-thriller film “On the Job” and the historial period drama “Amigo.”
Joel said he has always been fascinated with food, growing up with his mom’s food catering business in Bacolod City. He thought that opening a chicken inasal eatery with his wife Christy could be a good start as they make their own family. They recently opened a branch on Boracay Island in Aklan province.
