“Siguro ang isang bagay na natuwa ako at natutunan ko sa nanay ko, habang kontrolado mo pa ‘yong sarili mong buhay and ‘yong mga decisions mo sa life, sa career man ‘yan o sa lovelife, you don’t ask anybody for permission,” said actress Julia Barretto when asked whether or not she has asked permission from boyfriend Joshua Garcia before she did a kissing scene with Gerald Anderson, her leading man in the romantic drama “Between Maybes.”
“Kung feel mo ‘yan ang ikakabuti ng kahit anong bagay, dapat you go with your gut and with your instinct,” she pointed out. “Hindi ako nag-paalam. Nagsabi lang, out of respect.”
For the first time on the big screen, Julia and Gerald Anderson is paired up in a film that’s shot on location in Saga, Japan.
In “Between Maybes,” Julia Barretto plays Hazel, an actress experiencing troubles in her career and not having control of her life. Feeling lost and wanting to escape, she book a random flight and eventually end up in the secluded prefecture of Saga. There she finds an unexpected confidante in Louie (Gerald) who isolated himself after experiencing a heartbreak from his family.
After his first project with Black Sheep, last year’s “To Love Some Buddy,” filmmaker Jason Paul Laxamana wanted to create a story that “reflected the serenity and calm nature of the location.”
The two actors underwent a series of workshop with Laxamana and shot majority of the film during the bloom of the Sakura trees.
A brand new version of Rico Blanco’s hit song “Your Universe” has been created specifically for the film by Acel Bisa, the original singer of Moonstar88. The film opens in cinemas starting May 15.
