“You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.”
This was how talent manager Ogie Diaz reacted to comments of netizens, who, according to him, were questioning the timing of onscreen partners Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil’s admission that they were already dating since 2017.”So hindi mo talaga alam kung saan ka lulugar. Punta ka sa kanan o kaliwa, tiyak mahuhulog ka pa din. Dumedma ka, me sasabihin pa rin sila,” he said in his recent Facebook post. Diaz is the talent manager of Soberano.
“So ngayong umamin ang LizQuen, me sinasabi pa din ‘yung iba. Anyway, okay lang ‘yan. Pasensiya na po sa naapektuhan ng kanilang pag-amin,” he said. “Kung iniisip n’yong may ipino-promote na ‘Alone/Together’ ‘yong dalawa kaya umamin, eh opinyon n’yo na po ‘yan. Sila lagi ang magkasama eh what do you expect?”
The two were subjected to a “lie detector test” when they made an appearance in the Sunday talk program “Gandang Gabi Vice,” hosted by comedian Vice Ganda.
It was during the said segment that LizQuen admitted to have been in a relationship for “almost two years” and that it was in October when it started for them.
Ogie said some netizens accused LizQuen of resorting to gimmick to promote their latest film, “Alone/Together.”
Ogie cited some of the comments: “Bakit umamin? Ah, kasi may movie na ipino-promote?” Makakatulong ba ‘yong pag-amin nilang more than two years na sila para maging mapayapa ang Mindanao? So kung sila na, bababa na ba ang presyo ng gasolina at bilihin? Tataas na ba ang minimum wage? Matatapos na ba ang tigdas outbreak?”
The talent manager, who is also a comedian, pointed out: “Kung iniisip n’yong may ipino-promote na ‘Alone/Together’ ‘yong dalawa kaya umamin, eh opinyon n’yo na po ‘yan. Sila lagi ang magkasama eh what do you expect?”
What’s important, Diaz said, was that most people were happy with the news, especially the LizQuen fans. “At in fairness, kinilig pa sila sa pag-amin na ‘yon. At least, maraming napangiti ang loveteam, so sana good vibes na lang,” he added. (Report by Daisy Liezel Cuison)
